Overview
The TSP50C42 combines an eight-bit control processor and an LPC speech synthesizer. It is visibly marked on the Super Speak & Read circuit board in this collection.

Control and voice together
TI’s 1990 family manual specifies 8 KB of internal ROM for the TSP50C42 and support for external speech memory. The controller retrieves encoded speech parameters for the synthesizer. Its ten-pole LPC filter models the vocal tract.
