TOPO III continued Androbot’s speech-equipped TOPO line. Like TOPO II, it used Texas Instruments TMS5220 speech hardware to give a computer-directed robot an electronic voice.
Together, the later TOPO models show how dedicated speech modules could turn movement commands and programmed messages into the impression of a responsive mechanical companion.
