Overview
Tandy’s service manual identifies the General Instrument PIC 7040 as the cartridge’s dedicated controller. Its firmware implements text-to-speech rules and a sound-command interpreter. The photographed part is marked PIC7040-510. A separate CTS256-AL2 should not be assumed to have the same cartridge firmware.
